Courses and Applications

The specialized courses are specific for the improvement and qualification of students in  different areas of knowledge. They comprise a short program (minimum of 360 hours) with curricular flexibility in terms of content, subjects and academic activities. The presentation of an individual final paper or monograph is a requirement for the course completion. The diploma in higher education is a requirement for enrollment.
 
Goals

• The production of knowledge within the autonomous public university, interested in the creation of science, aims at reducing human suffering, fostering the development of the country and the living conditions of its population. This is the social dimension of undergraduate, graduate and extension university education.

• Within this perspective, Specialized and Professional Development Courses fulfill several roles, among which, above all, that of helping graduate student preparing him or her for the various possibilities of insertion in the labor market, contributing to the expansion of his or her competences as well as  the improvement of human resources for the society.
 
The Specialized Courses registered and accredited by the Executive Vice-Rectorate of  Extension and Culture are regulated according to the Resolution of the National Council of Education nr. 01 of June 08, 2007.
Characteristics of the Specialized Courses:

• a minimum load of 360 hours and a maximum of 1,440 hours;
• maximum duration of 2 (two) years, including the presentation of the Course Completion Work;
• requirement of a selective admission process;
• emission of certificates and school transcript for the students.
 
Characteristics of the Professional Development Courses:

• minimum  load of 180 hours and maximum of 359 hours;
• maximum duration of 2 (two) years, including the presentation of the Course Completion Work;
• requirement of a selective admission process;
• emission  of certificate and school transcript to the students.
