International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH)

Background Information: Background Information: In April 2008, the ISfTeH Board of Directors approved the formation of a Telenursing Working Group under ISfTeH and with the intent to seek alignment with the International Council of Nursing. One of the responsibilities of the Telenursing Working Group is to hold a workshop at each ISfTeH conference, highlighting the Telenursing work/efforts of the host country. The Canadian Society of Telehealth (CST) is hosting the 2008 ISfTeH Annual Meeting; thus, the first global Telenursing meeting and workshop will focus the work of Canadian telenurses, with a view towards sharing these experiences with colleagues from other countries.

We are pleased to announce the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH) International Telenursing Working Group Inaugural Meeting and Workshop:

“The Canadian Experience and Application to International Telenursing”

Date: Sunday, October 5, 2008 from 0830 – 1230

Location: Crowne Plaza Ottawa Hotel, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

The Working Group is aimed at advancing telenursing practice internationally. Advancing telenursing means involving nurses in telehealth applications. The international telenursing network and workshop will provide information to help nurses leverage the use of the existing networks and technology, apply recognized telenursing standards and best practices to their work environments and integrate telenursing within different health delivery systems, with the goal of distributing scarce nursing resources in a more efficient and effective manner.

This workshop is geared towards nurses who are new to telehealth and are interested in learning about telenursing, and towards experienced telenurses who are interested in learning from the experiences of recognized experts in the Canadian environment. It will provide the opportunity for nurses to network with international colleagues, share experiences and expertise and obtain advice and support for the further development of telenursing applications and services.

This Workshop is sponsored by ISfTeH, Canadian Society of Telehealth and McKesson Canada. There is no registration fee; however, please register on the CST website for space planning purposes.
